2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 vs 2022 Ford F-150

When you have a big job on your hands, you need the right tools to get it done. That’s why so many people gravitate towards full-size pickup trucks when they need to tow or haul a large load. Pickup trucks are one of the most popular vehicles you’ll find on the roadways today, so you may find yourself wondering which is the best fit for you.

We’re going to take a closer look at two of the most popular pickups you’ll find on the highway, the all-new 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and 2022 Ford F-150, and learn where they’re similar and where they differ.

Exterior

Let’s start from the outside and work our way in. Both the all-new 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and 2022 Ford F-150 are available in three cab sizes. The Silverado’s Crew cab and the F-150’s SuperCrew® cab are the largest option on each truck, while the Silverado’s Double cab and the F-150’s Super Cab are the smaller four-door options. Both Chevy and Ford call their two-door cab style Regular cab.

When you’re driving a full-size pickup truck, you need a bed that can handle any job. Both the new 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 and 2022 Ford F-150 offer three bed lengths to choose from, with all three of the Silverado’s being slightly larger than the F-150’s:

  • Chevrolet Silverado 1500
    • Short Bed: 69.9 inches
    • Standard Bed: 79.4 inches
    • Long Bed: 98.1 inches
  • Ford F-150
    • 5.5-Foot Bed: 67.1 inches
    • 6.5-Foot Bed: 79.8 inches
    • 8-Foot Bed: 97.6 inches

The new Chevy Silverado 1500’s truck bed offers plenty of versatility too. Not only does it feature best-in-class standard cargo volume at 89.1 cubic feet, it also comes with 12 standard tie downs to keep your cargo secure. This full-size pickup truck features an available industry-first power-up/-down tailgate that opens and closes with the push of a button. It also features a multi-flex tailgate that can be opened six different ways and a CornerStep rear bumper for easy access to the cargo bed.

Meanwhile, the new 2022 Ford F-150 is only available with four standard tie downs. Like the Silverado, the new F-150 is available with a power tailgate. However, it lacks the Silverado’s multi-flex tailgate option. The new F-150 does feature available onboard scales that measure the approximate payload weight.

Advantage of the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

  • All three beds are longer than the F-150’s
  • Bed comes standard with 12 tie downs, more than the Ford truck
  • Multi-flex tailgate offers a variety of loading options

Chevy pairs the new Silverado 1500 with segment-first rear seatback storage compartments that provide a convenient location to store smaller items. With all this advanced tech, you need an advanced sound system to enjoy it with. Ford meanwhile pairs its F-150 with a B&O® Sound System by Bang & Olufsen®. With these sound systems, you can take full advantage of the trial subscription to SiriusXM® Satellite Radio that both pickup trucks come with.

On the Chevy Silverado 1500’s High Country trim level, you can opt for Super Cruise™ hands-free driver assistance technology. This feature allows you to drive hands free on compatible highways by managing speed and steering. It even works when towing, providing added comfort on long hauls.
